Born 1944, is since 1990 full professor with tenure at the Institute of Design and Technology Assessment ["Gestaltungs- und Wirkungsforschung"], Social Cybernetics Group, at the Department for Computer Sciences of the Vienna University of Technology, Austria. He was trained as an electronic engineer at the Vienna University of Technology [Certified Engineer in Electronics 1968, Doctoral Thesis in Mathematics 1971, Inaugural Dissertation in Social Cybernetics 1981].
After a postdoc education at the Institute for Advanced Studies [1971-1973] he became director of the economics department there. He held the position of a senior researcher, later on of a deputy director at the Institute for Socio-Economic Development and Technology Assessment of the Austrian Academy of Sciences [1973-1990].
He was Part Time Affiliate of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis [IIASA], Laxenburg, Austria [1974-1982], and Reasearch Scholar at MIT-Sloan School, System Dynamics Group, in Cambridge, Mass. [1987]. Publications in the fields of technology assessment, innovation, privacy in electronic media, mathematical simulation models, and the theory of labour value.
